Lord Morlcy, in the House of Lords, indignantly repudiated the charge that the Indian Government had failed to condemn attempts at torture and pressure on the part of the Indian police. Mr. Joyuson Hickse has been returned unopposed for Rootle. The petition against the election of Mr. H. Ingleby, Unionist member for King's Lynn, has been dismissed. The new Coalmines Bill has passed its second reading.
