The successful candidates include ten New Zealanders and thirty Australians. Though only seven out of twelve New Zealand candidates passed the entrance examination, arrangements have been made for three more New Zealand cadetships. IRISH BLIGHT. Sydney, March 17. Reports show that Irish blight is spreading, to an alarming degree, and the outlook is serious. The losses to growers in the Oberon district are estimated at £20,000. HOLIDAY OR HOLY DAY? Sydney, March 17. The Methodist Conference entered a strong protest against the opening of the Royal Show on Good Friday.
