BOROUGH COUXCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent). A special meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday evening, there being present: His Worship the Mayor, and Crs. Birdling, Rattenburv, Klenner, Black, Brabant, and Tate. His Worship the Mayor and Crs. Birdling ami Brabant were authorised to sign the district electors' roll. Mr. C. F. Dowsett was appointed engineer to the 'Council at a commission of ,"> per cent, on work done. The engineer submitted two draft plans of bridges, one in ferro-concrete| and the other in steel, the drafts being! accepted. It was resolved to instruct I the engineer to at once prepare full 1 plans, with specifications and estimates, and to call for alternative tenders as soon as practicable.' The engineer is also to be instructed to prepare plans for the drainage scheme, and to confer -with the AYorks Committee in reference to the expenditure of the street loan.
The Clifton Rowing Club held a successful social in their hall last evening.
