HON. THOS. MACKENZIE
ENTERTAINED AT MOSGIEL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night, The lion. T. Mackenzie was entertained at a complimentary social by tht Taieri electors at Mosgiel to-night, the gathering being large and representative. Complimentary speeches were made by a number of gentlemen, and Mr. Mackenzie was presented with an illuminated address, in which reference w;is made to the main points in his public career, such as his work in London, his exploration work in New Zealand, and his long services iu Parliament. I)< reply, Mr. Mackenzie touched on these points, and also referred to his position in the political world in the future. If the Taieri electorate was not consider ably altered he said he would again bt a candidate for that seat, but even if it was cut out altogether he thought hewould still be able to win a seat in the House. An Imperialistic note was struck in most of the speeches.
