THE INGLEWOOD SHOW.
To the Editor. .Sir, —Having visited the Horticultural Society's show last year and also this year, I was surprised (as were my Inglewood friends) to see pictures and fancywork which were awarded first prizes last year not merely exhibited this year hut awarded first prizes also. The schedule contains the following: —"L'ancywork, etc. Xo exhibit which lias taken a first prize at previous shows in Inglowood may compete for prizes at this show." Who is to b'lame for this? Perhaps the committee, and possibly the exhibitors of such work, who should know without warning that such an action is not only wrong in itself, but is very unfair to other exhibitors, and if there are 110 others in the class, no o*e need be surprised, for such tactics, if allowed to be continued in, will earn for this Society what similar tactics have for other societies of even greater pretentions, and where shows have been kept up for the benelit of a greedy few. Hoping that such a spirit will not be tolerated in future by the Inglewood Society,—l am, etc., QUALITY OF PURPOSE. Inglewood, March 11.
