(From Our Own Correspondents.) RAHOTU. A meeting of those interested in folding a bazaar in connection the Church of England building'fund 'was held in the hall 011 Thursday ,night. There was a good attendance. Thp, date of the bazaar was fixed for May 10 and 11. Strong committees of enthusiastic workers have been foriped. ; The school picnic is. to be held Wednesday, 22nd inst. T'liis year a'new departure has been made. Instead'of picnicking in the schoolgrounds, whiqti the children see so regularly, the picjiic will be held at the beach. In the evening a dance will be held in the hall. Rahotu now posesses another. motorcar for hire purposes, Momona hal'jng recently secured one. The car, which has been obtained for him by Mr. G. W. Gunson, of New Plymouth, is a 14-10-h.p. four-cylinder Daracq, seating five. Settlers arc hard at work sowing grass seed wlierc the feed was burnt out by the bush fires. The recent: rains have had a most beneficial effect 011 the pastures, and we are in hopes that' matters will not be so bad this winter as was anticipated. Some settlers, however, will have heavy grass seed bills to foot. TARATA. The Tarata Sheep Dog Trial Club held a social on Thursday last; when the club's funds were enriched to the extent of £3. Mrs. Litchtwark and Messrs T. Waite and Liclitwark supplied the music, which was a treat in itself. Songs were rendered by Mrs. Thomas and Mr. Day, and were much appreciated. Some interesting proceedings have lately taken place at Purangi, and are likely to be ventilated in the police court shortly. MIDHIRST. Last week the Midhirst Co-op Dairy Co.'s employees held their annual picnic and sports. It was to be regretted that the chopping and swimming events were deleted from the programme, as the main interest of the people were centred in these events. The competitors, too, were very slow in handing in their entries, a lot- of "barracking" having to take place before they could be got to enter. Hall 1, A. Ryan 2. In the evening a good dance was held, which was well attended. Mr. E. Vickers, of Radnor road, who has been away for some time on his holidays, returned home last week. Tile Salisbury School are holding their annual picnic and sports 011 the 10th inst. The Midhirst Wesleyan Sunday School spent their annual picnic at Ngaere Gardens on Saturday. It was a lovely daj', and young and old enjoyed themselves most thoroughly.
