COMMERCIAL.
STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: During the past week we disposed of r» considerable number of old ewes at from 6s to 10s; one real good station line of sound mouth ewes, one ear mark, sold up to 10s. We held our supplementary sheep fair at Tc Wera on Friday last. There was a good attendance, but the yarding was not up to the advertised number, about 2000 sheep being yarded, including 41 rams, of which we disposed of 1717 and 35 rams. We sold all the lines yarded, except two pens of two-tooth ewes, the reserves on which were higher than buyers' ideas of value. Two-tooth' wethers sold from 10s to 12s fldj two-tooth ewes up to 15s; old ewes, fi'om 3s to 6s 9d; lambs, from 2s 8d to 0s fid; and rami from 10s Od to 3% gns.. Owing to the receipt of a larigely signed petition from the Whangamomona, Kohuratahi and Tahora settlers requesting the company to start auction sales in the district, we have secured a very suitable site at Kohuratahi, and intend to erect sheer- >nd cattle yards thereon at an early date. FROZEN MEAT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., hag received the following . cablegram from their London house ,tinder date 10th inst:— Mutton: Market very w.eak; beef, market steady; lamb, demand moderate, market glutted. All descriptions have declined since last report.
