THE OTIRA TUNNEL. 13y Telegraph.—Press Asseeiation. Christchurch, Last Night. It is reported from Moana that owing to the continued drought the tunnel works have been closed' down at the Otira end of the Arthur's Pass tunnel until rain conies. Blocking and concreting will go on, and the carpenters are still at work. Holt's Creek is rapidly drying up, and at present there are no indications of rain. FIRE BRIGADES. Wanganui, Last Night. The fire brigade team which took part in the brigades' demonstration, arrived home this evening, and was tendered a welcome ft a social. It has been decided to invite the association to hold the next demonstration in Wanganui. WESTPORT MUNICIPAL BATHS. Westport, Last Night. A proposal to raise a loan of £IOOO to construct municipal baths in Victoria Square was carried to-day by a large majority.
