The match was resumed on a perfect wicket, the visitors wanting only a few runs to win. Commaille was out to a yorker at 19. Southland batted first, and made 342. D. Hamilton 110, E. J. Kavanagh 64, Fraser 51 not out, J. W. 11. Bannerman 40, and H. Irwin 27 were the highest scorers. Rangitikei in the first innings only scored 74 (E. W. Broad 43). In the second innings they have lost three wickets for 49 runs. IN OTHER CENTRES. Wellington, Monday. Central A made 173 (Roberts 38) against East A's 66 for five wickets; South scored 166 (Dickson 79) against North's 45 for no wickets; Central B 117 v. East B 98 for two wickets (Johneon 41 and Crombie 30, both not out). Hutt registered 293 for nine wickets against Victoria College, Brice being top scorer with 03, Staples 52, and Judd, 46 not out. Chrißtchurch, March 11. Play in the tenth round of the senior matches to-day was full of incident, Sydenham were leading by three points, and had to be beaten, whilst St. Albans had to get a three-point win to deprive Sydenham of the championship for the season. St. Albans got their three-point win, and West Christchureh defeated Sydenham amidst , the greatest excitement, as they required 253, and had lost eight wickets for 239. The tenth round j ended in a tie between St. Albans and - Sydenham. The match between West Christchureh and Sydenham was marked by a magnificent between Reese (5(5) and Lusk (94), who added J 113 for the third wfeket. Tn the St. ;J Albans versus Linwood game the former,' with 170 against them, made 299 for wickets, and declared. Crawshaw batted magnificently for 122 not out, and Bishop made 74 by equally good play. Linwood could only total 155 in the second innings. Thomas (45) was top scorer. St: Albans made the necessary 49 for the loss of one wicket (Crawshaw, 21 not out). Riccarton, playing East Chrirtchurcb, just succeeded in passing their opponents' total of 150, with a score of 159 (A. Norman 41). East Chrißtchurch went in again, and a fine partnership by W. Carlton and Sims put on 182 for one wicket, Sims being not out at the finish with 113, made in hfti very best style. Auckland, March 12. Only one senior grade match was played on Saturday. The other twe were postponed owing to Eden Park having been rendered unfit to play on by the recent heavy rain. In the GraftonNorth Shore patch, the former team won by 59 runs on the first innings. The scores were: Grafton, 92 and 186 for six wickets (innings closed), D. Hay (44) and Horspool (40) being the highest scorers. North Shore made 42 and 87 for eight wickets (Prime 22, Farquharson 20). Shacklock took five wickets for 20 runs. Dunedin, March 11. The senior cricket matches were continued to-day in beautifully fine weather. The following are the results of the coi*tests:—Cnrisbrook B made 228 in their first innings (Ramsdcn 58), and Dunedin made 49 and 86 for three wickets. Cariabrook B thus secure a two-point win. In Orange r. Albion, the latter made 292 and 55 (Hiddlestone 21 not out), and Grange 280 and (18 for six wickets, thus securing a four-pnint win. In the matth Carisbrook A v. Opolio, the latter compiled 194 and 113 nnd the former 111 and 124 for six wickets. Opoho secure a two-point win. SCHOOL CRICKET. FITZROY DEFEAT CENTRAL.
