WHITELEY SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. The Whiteley Sunday School celebrated its unniversary on Sunday, and ut each service there was a large attendance. The preacher for the daj was the Rev. C. C. Harrison, of Stratford, and, as lie very pointedly Baid, he was there to fill in the time between the hymns and songs that formed sueh an important part of this children's anniversary. For some weeks past, the scholars had been under the careful training of Mr. G. 11. White, and the selection of the hymns was somewhat brighter than 011 previous occasions. The children much appreciated the change, and acquitted themselves well. The Sunday evening congregation was large, and difficulty was experienced in finding seating accommodation. During this service Miss Gwcn Blanchett sang a solo, "God sent me here," with a chorus of the other scholars. It was a fine ef« fort, the singer being possessed of a sweet voice, under capital control. The collections were over £lO, somewhat ahead of last year. On Monday evening the public tea wa» well attended, the table accommodation proving inadequate to provide for the large number present. The tables were presided over by the lady teachers, who carried out their duties faithfully and well. The public meeting was held in the Whiteley Church at 7.30, and was largely attended by parents and friends. The various reports of the sehool were submitted, including the librarian's and treasurer's. The latter disclosed a very healthy financial position. After providing for all expenses, the school starts the year with a credit balance of £lB
2a 4d. The report in connection with the infant department proved very interesting. There were on the roil Bft scholars. The cradle roll department showed that 150 babies were on their list, and every birthday as it came round was remembered by those in charge of the cradle roll department The thoroughness with which the junior school was worked was much" appreciated by the church. Owing to the absence of secretary, the report from the senior Sunday school was not available, but good progress was reported to have been made, and the Sunday School in connection with the church was doing vcrv solid work to lav the foundation faithfully nml well of those who are W the future to be the church workers.
