PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held at Rahotu on Wednesday last. There were present: Messrs. J. Young (chairman), Deegan, Harvey, Dueker and Willow, Oil the motion of the chairman, the meeting day was altered from the second Wednesday to the second Thursday in each month. •, It was resolved to erect a shed on the Board's property, in which the workmen could manufacture concrete pipes in wet weather. The foreman's report was adopted, and the foreman was instructed to replace a culvert near Mr. Callanderte, Opua road, with pipes. A pipe culvert is also to be put in or the Harvey road. The staff is to attend to necessary work on the Opourapa, Upper Arawhata and Upper Kina roads. It was resolved that the balance of Ihaia road HjTo. 3 loan should be spent on the most needed works in compliance with the special orders. It was resolved to ask Mr. McFie- for assistance towards the work on the Lower Arawhata road, which would cost about £SO. The foreman also reported that no damage had been done to bridges or culverts during the recent bush fires. Opua Road.—Mr. Willcox asked that the staff be allowed to remain on this road a little longer, as the pit was unworkable in the winter. It wag pointed out that all but three of the settlers had paid their special rate. The road was overdrawn £2OO, and this precluded any further expenditure. Pungarehu Road.—The foreman is to report on this at next meeting. Appreciation.—The clerk's salary was raised from £2 2s to £2 10s per week, members being eulogistic of the services' rendered by Mr. O'Brien. Ranger and Pound-keeper.—Mr. 11. Norfolk was appointed ranger permanently and pound-keeper temporarily pending fresh applications for the latter position.—Abridged from the Opunakc Times.
