) TIIE AXXUAL SPORTS. j (From Our Own Correspondent). 'Die Urcnui Athletic Club are to be congratulated on the success of the thirteenth annual meeting, which took'place on Thursday in ideal weather. Mr. R. Pigott, as judge, was the right man in the right place, and Mr. E. Julian, as starter, carried out his duties very successfully. The committee worked well and hard to make the meeting a success, and the joint secretaries, Messrs A. Thompson and W. Fuller, were here, there and everywhere. A great feautre of the meeting was the attendance of the Waitara Band, whose excellent rendering of a liberal programme was very much appreciated by the public. The committee ran the soft drinks' booth, and did a roaring trade. Mrs. J. Telfar ran the refreshment booth, and was well patronised. The attendance at the meeting was very good, and, the programme being lengthy, the various events were not over until after sundown, when all went home well satisfied with the day's outing. Constable Lapouple was in attendance, but his services were not called on. The following was the list of events:— 150 yds Maiden Race—ll. ; Holmes 1, J. Philip 2, Wood 3. Six started. 1 Boys' Race, 220 yds (for boys under 16)—Pukere 1, Skelton and Skelton 3.' A good race, two lads tieing for second. 100 yds Handicap—First lieat: W. Tulle { 1, Pukere 2, Second heat: Boss Fuller 1, J. Marsh 2. Third heat: Potiti 1, w! O'Donnell 2. Fourth heat: H. Philip 1, Tntaki 2. Final: Tutaki 1, W. Fuller 2, Philip 3. Mrs. George's orchestra! supplied the music, which was excellent; The supper, which was a sit-down'one," was supplied by Mrs. F. Rowe, and the table was loaded with everything of the best.
