The Council of the Festival of Empire Sports has selected. the following team to represent Australasia:— Swimming and boxing, Hardwick, New South Wales; wrestling, Smyth, New South Wales; cycling, Schneider, New South Wales; running, Wheatlcy, Victoria, Haskings and Woodger, New Zealand; hurdles, Brown, Victoria; tennis, Wilding, New Zealand. Mr. Coombcs will be the manager. THE ATHLETIC TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Festival of Empire sports committee met last night. A letter was received from the Prime Minister, stating that the Government had decided to grant the committee a £ for £ subsidy up to £SOO. The committee decided that if sufficient money is raised, Opie will be sent home. The committee deputed Mr. Chaffey to co-operate with sports bodies in Christchurch, with a view to raising funds; also to communicate with C. Emmerson, of Nelson, S. E. Hazard, of Napier, and W. S. Corby, of Wanganui, in regard to raising subscriptions. The New Zealand and Wellington Rugby and Association football authorities will also be invited to assist.
