Mi. find Mrs. Xewton King returned yesterday morning from Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. D. Teed, sen., and Mr. F. E. Wilson were passengers for Auckland last night per s.s. Rarawa. Sir. Justico Edwards arrived in Xew Plymouth by last night's express to preside at the Supreme Court sessions. Mr. Geo. Clifford and Mr. R. H. Xolan, members of the Gaming Commission, Mere amongst the passengers per s.s. Rarawa last night, for Auckland. Mr. ,T. D. Tlenrv, the oil expert, Sir Joseph Ward, Prime Minister, and l)r. Vindlay, Attorney-General, will be fellow passengers as far as San Francisco. A Press message reports that the recently created Lord Tennant has beea appointed Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

The vigorous protest against the transfer of the Rev. J. G. Chapman trem New Plymouth to Wellington has proved unavailing. Mr. Chapman is to have the rather difficult Taranalci-strect charge.

Mr. Fred H. Jackson, who has been l connected with Messrs. Okey, Son, and 1 Arnold for the past fifteen years, and' who seemed quite an integral part of the business, so well was he versed in it, has severed his connection with the firm, intending to start business in Xew Plymouth in conjunction with Mr. Ronald Paul.

Sir. Charles Zachariah, of the Public Trust Office, who was appointed district manager at Xew Plymouth a few months hack, has received word of further promotion, having heen appointed district manager for the Public Trust Office for the whole of Taranaki. and reserves agent in charge of West Const Settlement Reserves, with headquarters at Unworn. Sir. Zachariah. who has heen in Wellington for a few days, returned to Xew Plymouth last night, and will, it is thought, take up his extended duties early in April.
