THE METHODIST CONFERENCE
THE HOME MISSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Saturday. The Methodist Conference resumed today. The Missions Executive Committee reported, recommending the allotment of grants to the various stations for the ensuing year. The recommendations were adopted. The Rev. T. G. Brooke was reappointed organising secretory, and Messrs. Brooke and J. Veale were reappointed general treasurers of the fund. The Home Missions executive reported, recommending the rescinding of tfie following resolutions passed by last.conference: "That grants for support of native ministers and native home missionaries be made on the same principle as that applied to the European departments of work, and that ministers aud of lice-bearers of Maori stations be notified that this will be put into operation in that there tie no further increase in the cost of Maori woiy witflout the express sanction of the conference." The Rev. Bond moved as an amendment that, instead of rescinding the second resolution, it should be amended to read, "That there be no further illcrease in cost of Maori work for new enterprises without the express sanction of the,.conference,the amendment was carried. The recommendations of the executive in regard to the principles of the administration of the fund contained in the report presented on the pftvious day were moved for adaption, and after considerable discussion the motion was lost by 4!) votes to 37. It was decided that the Stationing Committee should hold its final meeting on Monday at 2 p.m. The conference adjourned till Monday.
