SHOOTING AT BIBLEY. | SECOND DAY. By Tel.-TTH.pli.—Pre** Uaociation. Trentham, Saturday Night. To-day was a steady business day at Trentham, the Auckland. Match at 500 and 600 yards, and the 500 yards stage of the Nelson Match (included in the Belt competition), and the snap-shooting match being got off. The wind and i weather varied baffingly, and while some good shooting was effected, many of the cracks cracked up. Luck had as much to do with the scoring as skill. The whole of the 75 targets were in uae at both ranges. At 500 yards, Hay (Karori) made the possible, Manley 40, Penny and Watt 48 each. Nicholls (Dunedin) made a remarkable shoot at this range, getting nine centrals out of ten shots. One shot, the second to last, was & miss, the bullet having evidently been deflected from the target: by the wind. At 600, Cresswell (Taumarunui) made the possible, but Penny, with 49 addsd to his previous 48, cams in winner. At 500 yards in the Nelson Match, ten shots, there was soma fairly good shooting. Drummond (Westpdrt) put up the possible. Patrick (Auckland) scored 40, and Caldwell (Karori), Swanson (Ruahine), Pearce (Sandon), Fisher (Stoke), and Evam (Taranaki), each scored 48. Fortyseven's were numerous in the match, which will be resumed on Monday.

Twenty-seven teams have entered from rifle clubs for the Colonial Ammunition Company's Shield, which dft cides the champion club of New Zealand The teams are composed of five repre> sentatives each. At the conclusion of the 500 yards in the Kelson Match, the first of the service matches, seven shots at 300 yards, was taken. In this match the target, which is a head and shoulders with an eight-inch bullseye, invisible to the firer, is exhibited seven times at irregular intervals for four seconds. A' hit counts 5 points. The shooting was very good, the weather not having much effect on the firing at this range. - A large number scored seven hits, Kwnan, "of Port Chalmers, mtofcg six bull's-eyes. Following were tHe principal prize-win-ners:—Keenan, Port Chalmers, £s] 35, with six-bull's-eyes; Nelson, Canterbury, £4, 35, five bulls; Wilkie, Upper Hutt, £2 13s 4d, 35, four hulls; Woolley, Auckland, £2 13s 4d, 39, four bulls; Moss, Greymouth, £2 13s 4d, 35, four . bulls. The following deceived £i 12s each: Grover, Okato, 85, with three bulls; Smith, Geraldine, 35, with three bulls; Mcintosh, Waitohi, 35, with three bulls; Broad, Geraldine, 35, with three bulls; Thompson, Sounds, 35, with three bulls. A number won 931 and smaller sums.
Barry Wake, of the Stratford School, ihas won the Colonial Ammunition Company's cup for the combined districts of Taranaki, Wanganui, and Wellington. The cup is presented to the best shot of all cadets in the districts named for 1910. —Stratford Post.
