A LEVIN LOAN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Levin, March 3. A proposal to borrow £l2Oll for the extension of the water mains in and beyond the borough was carried at the poll yesterday by 127 votes to 21. NATIVES AND LIQUOR. Levin, March 3. For having supplied liquor to natives within a district proclaimed by the Governor-in-Council as one wherein liquor was not to be supplied to natives, Timothy Chase was fined £2 and £1 on two charges by Mr. Thomson, S.M. SLY GROG. Wellington, Yesterday. Alfred Brilis, the colored man who was lined £SO for sly grog selling a! Christmas, was similarly charged to-day with an offence on February '2O. and was sentenced to two nionlhV iniprisonI ment without the option of a fine.
