NAVAL BOARD RECONSTITUTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 3, IL4O p.m. Melbourne, March 3. The Naval Board has been reconstituted. The Minister of Defence becomes president. Captain Creswell, the present head of the Australian fleet, is appointed the first naval member, with the rank of Rear-Admiral. ■ He takes charge of the intelligence, ordinance, and fleet services, manoeuvres, gunnery, and torpedo exercises, and naval works. Captain Chambers, R.N., the second naval member, deals with personnel and reserves, discipline, stores, victualling, and medical. Engineer Clarkson, third naval member, takes charge of construction and engineering of ships, and controls the naval dockyards and bases. Paymaster Manisty, civil member, controls finance and legal questions, and acts as naval secretary.
