In the House of feords, Lord Dun-i more complained that in spite of Government promises to grant a portion of the land values taxation to local bodies, it had been withheld. Lord Crewe promised that a departmental committee of inquiry should be set up. THE COLONIAL OFFICE. Received 3, 10.20 p.m. London, March 3. In the House of Commons, Mr. L. V. Harcourt, replying to a question, said the Government was refraining from appointing an Under-Secretary for the Colonies pending the meeting of the Imperial Conference. He added it would be discourteous to take a step seeming to prejudice the result of the discussion. ELECTION PETITIONS ABANDONED. Received 3, 10.20 p.m. London, March 3. The election petitions at Gloucester and St. Pancras have been abandoned.
