MR. HENRY INTERVIEWED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Wednesday. Interviewed respecting the Prime Minister's statement that he would have an independent report on the oil fields of New Zealand, Mr. J. D. Henry said he had been formally requested to undertake the work. His report will be sent to the Department of Mines before next session. . On the completion of his investigation Mr. Henry will leave for the oil fields of California aid North West Canada. He is to arrive in London in June. BANQUET IN NEW PLYMOUTH. On Thursday night next Mr. J. D. Henry will be banquetted by the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. There has been a sharp rise in the price of shares lately, due to the likelihood of the property being acquired shortly by English capitalists. AMasterton firm has written to theTaranaki Petroleum Co. asking that samples of the oil be forwarded them, in order to send to an American firm, so that their opinion may be got as to whether oil engines can be constructed ,to operate on it. The Amcricari firm /already referred to have made an engine 'to operate on crude oil. Their method is to vaporise the oil in an apparatus . ' which can be attached to any oil engine. The company is forwarding the oil as , requested.
