Dr. H R. Leathnm returned from Auckland by the Rarawa yesterday; morning.

Mr. Petcrkin, ex-Mayor of the Lower Hutt, is spending a 'short holiday in New Plymouth. The Rev. W. A. Rtirley, 8.A., of Manaia, has received advice that he lias passed for his M.A. degree with honors. Mr. G. P. Armstrong (late of Opunake Times) has prolonged his stay in London, and intends to await the coronationfestivities.

A Press message states that King George has held the first levee of bu reign. The function was mainly official and diplomatic. Mr. and Mrs. Sorrensoa and family,' formerly residents of Smart road, havu just returned to New Plymouth after a lengthy holiday fu Denmark. Mr. K. Dr. and Mrs. Walker and family left by the express train yesterday morrting, and were seen off by a number of friends. During Dr. Walker's absence his partner, Dr. Blaekley, will havecharge of the practice, being assisted, by Dr. Milroy.

Members of the Veterans' Association, are requested to attend the funeral ot their late comrade, Mr. James C. Honeyfield, to-day. Tregcar, late Secretary for Labor, was entertained last night by the Wellington branch of the Federated Seamen's Union, arid presented with at* illuminated address and a gold pendant in recognition of his services to labor during his term of office. A gold-mouut-, ed handbag was also presented to Mrs. Tregear.—Press telegram. The following changes in naval commands are announced:—Vice-Admiral Sir W. H. May, commanding the Homo, Fleet, succeeds Vice-Admiral Sir W. H. Fawkes as Commander-in-Chief at Plymouth; Vice-Admiral Sir G, Egerton, commanding at the Cape, succeeds ViceAdmiral Sir F. C. Bridgcman-Bridgeman as Second Sea Lord at the Admiralty. Mr. T. B. Salmon, postmaster at the Bluff, succeeds Mr. B. Hill, postmaster of Hawera, instead of Mr. P. P. White, of Marton, who now goes to Hamilton. Other post office appointments are:— Mr. G. F. Furhy, postmaster at .Hamilton,, transferred to Christchurch district, to be Assistant-Inspector of Post Office*. Mr. A. T. Cavcll, postmaster at Riverton, to Christchurch, as. SubInspector. Mr. McKinnon, senior clerk at Waihi, to Riverton, as postmaster. Mr. T. S. Hester, postmaster, High street, Christchurch, to Bluff, vice Mr. Salmon.
