TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE. MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 14th inst, I held my unsual four-weekly sale of above produce. The catalogue comprised 122 bales and 235 sacks of wool, 2744 sheepskins, 34 casks, 3 kegs and 37 tins tallow, 1718 hides, and 1224 calfskins, besides horsehair, cowtails, bones, etc. The attendance of buyers was large, competition keen and prices satisfactory. Wool sold well at prices equal to those ruling at my last sale, with the exception of a few lots of fine lambs and fleece, which advanced %d per lb. I submitted a large catalogue of hides, including 850 from the Waitara and Patea freezing works, and every line met with excellent competition throughout the sale. There was a very strong demand for good-condition-ed heavy-weight ox hides showing good substance, for'these prices being very high, showing an advance of %d to Id per lb. Some lines sold as high as Bd, 8y 4 d, BM.d to B%d.' Cow hides sold well at late rates. Tallow advanced 10s per ton.
