LAST SATURDAY'S MATCHES. I Wellington—Central A beat East Aby i 106 runs; Central B beat College by 39 runs; North beat South by 69 runs; I East 15 beat Hutt by 73 runs. Christelinrch—The ninth round of grade cricket commenced to-day in fine weather. The chief attraction* was the match between the two leading teams— Sydenham and St. Albans—which was witnessed by a crowd of spectators which would do credit to a representative match. St. Albans did well in getting their opponents out for 131. Paterson (44) was top scorer. Sandman got eight wickets for 43 rung. St. Albans have made a shocking start, losing five wickets for 68 runs. Riccarton met West Christchurch and, thanks chiefly to a magnificent innings by the Canterbury representative, A'lf Norman, who made 151, reached 322. E. R. Caygill (60) and Arthur Norman also baited well. When stumps were drawn West Christchurch had lost two wickets for 12 runs. Linwood, playing against East Christchurch, dismissed the last-mentioned team for 133 and then passed that total with the loss of five wickets.
Auckland—North Shore, in defeating Ponsonby, have practically won the championsnip. Results:—Grafton v. Eden: Grafton, first innings, 309; Eden 251 (Hemus 81, Gumming 24). Harvey took six wickets for 62 runs. Grafton won by 58 runs on the first innings total —a two-point win. Parnell v. University: Parnell, first innings, 304; University, first innings, 114 (Wallace 54). Warner tool-five wickets for 32; second innings 66 for four wickets (Frasor 22 not out). Parnell won by 190 runs on the first innings totals—a two-point win. Ponsonby v. North Shore: Ponsonby, first innings, 134; second innings 150 (,W. Robinson 39, R. Woods 34); North Shore 135 (O. Miller 16). Pearson took four wickets for 50 runs, and N. C. Sneddon four for 63. North Shore won by one run—a two-point win. Dunedin—Carisbrook 15 playing against Carisbrook A made 251 for four wickets (Austin 110, Ramsden 55, Watson 48 not out). Grange disposed of Opoho for 88 (Callaway 33) and compiled 172 (C. Chadwick 40, L. Chadwick 39). Dunedin met Albion and compiled 145 (Condliffe 33, Stevens 32 not out). Albion responded with 187 for four wickets (Baker 57 not out, Duthie 45). "- ===== ,
