SUMMARY AND FORECAST. ~ By Telegraph.—Press Associatio*. Wellington, Last Night. Following is .the Rev. D. C. Bates' (summary and forecast:—-Moderate to strong southerly winds have prevailed, and rain fell in pnrts of the country last night, heavy in the neighborhood of Cook Strait. The weather has shown a marked improvement generally to-day, though unsettled and cloudy at times about East Cape and Foveaux Strait. The barometer has risen nearly everywhere. Present indications are for fair but hazy weather generally, but unsettled in the extreme north and south at times. Moderate to strong easterly ■winds are probable northward of New Plymouth and Napier, westerly in the extreme south, and variable elsewhere. The barometer will record little movement at present. ___________ "~*«* ■
