The Union Jack has been ordered to be flown in all Canadian towns along the United States frontier, and at all seaports. The House of Representatives Committee for Foreign Affairs, by nine votes to one, decided against Mr. Bennett's resolution regarding the desirability of the United States opening up negotiations with Great Britain for the annexation of Canada. THE AMERICAN TARIFF. GENERAL REVISION REQUESTED. Received 19, 5.5 p.m. New York, February 18. A resolution introduced in the United States Senate requests Mr. ,Taft to call an extra session for the revision of the tariff laws. The present laws are described as discriminatory and unjust, affording protection to monopolies. THOSE ANNEXATION "JOKES." THEIR EFFECT IN CANADA. Received 19, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, February 18. It is understood that Sir Wilfrid Laurier intends to clear up the party's attitude in the annexation controversy, and a statement is expected denouncing the annexation idea as foreign to the Liberals of the Dominion. Resentment is growing throughout the country against the Government.
