Tims finding himself in possession of sufficient material, he forwarded various blackmailing letters, in one declaring that he had entire 'knowledge of a lady's meeting with her chauffeur, in another giving exact details of the lady's interviews with an officer of hussars, while other letters of the same character contained scarcely veiled threats. The price which he required for his silence varied from Soon to 5000 kronen, or more. An energetic lady, the wife of a millionaire, to whom the blackmailer had written in error, informed the criminal authorities, who arrested the man. It was soon known that be had communicated to the police a number of compromising stories, and it was al-o to be expected Hint in the case of a trial he would (rive the names of those ladies who bad vielricri to his demands for money.
