THE MASTERTON SHOW
A RECORD ATTENDANCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Musterton, Last Night. Beautiful weather prevailed for the people's day of the Mnsterton Show, and there was an attendance of .between 12,000 and 14,000, which easily constitutes a record for the district. His Excellency the Governor and party worn present, but the Ministry was not represented. Lord Islington planted a commemoration tree, and made an excellent speech, in which he urged the importance of agriculture to the Dominion. He strongly advocated the establishment of a scientific agricultural school, and stated that the work of agriculture should be outside the region of politics. There was a splendid display of produce at the show to-day, and a feature of the exhibits was those from the local schools. The champion jump, for which the first prize was £. r )0, brought out forty competitors. J. H. McNiven's Pickpocket was awarded first place, with J. Sweeney's Consul seeend, and J. B. Mac Donald's Betrayer third.
