Mr. Dobson, giving evidence before before .ai'Royal Commission on Customs 'leakage, said taxation under the Federation had risen 19s 8d per head, owing to the ever-increasing Federal expenditure. Tasmania was unable to stand the strain unless she got a subsidy.
