PRETORIA MINE DISASTER
RESULT OF ENQUIRY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, February 13. At the inquest into the Pretoria mine disaster at Bolton, the verdict was that the accident was due to gas from coal dust, and probably a defective or overheated lamp. There was no evidence to show that there had been any noncompliance with the statutory obligation, but there was some evidence of laxity in the management. An amendment in the electricity regulations, and monthly reports on ventilation, were recommended.
