Hamilton proposed to withdraw his opposition to Mr. llealy's petition against the election for Louth North, owing to proof of illegal payments having been produced, but petitioner insisted on proceeding with the other charges of intimidation and corrupt practices.

The Labor party's influence was so strong, and the cause so convincing, that he believed facilities could be afforded for the introduction of their Bill, or the Government would ultimately introduce one of its own.
