THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Hev. D. C. Bates this evening issued the following weather summary and forecast: —A cyclone centred off East Cape caused a southerly gale and heavy rain on the east coast of the North island on Saturday and Sundav. Gales were also experienced on Sunday about Cook strait. The weather has been unsettled in most parts of the country. Much smoke and haze from bush fires lias been reported lately. Present indications are for mild, hazy and changeable weather generally. Moderate to strong easterly winds in the North Island, and northerly and westerly in the South. The barometer has a falling tendency, but there is little movement at present.
