ELECTORAL REFORM URGED. By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright. Melbourne, February 11. The bibor Conference decided that a deputation should ask the Minister to open State coal mines. A motion for a Usury Bill, limiting interest on money lent, was carried unanimously. It was decided that no person should be eligible for selection as a Parliamentary candidate unless he had been a member of the Labor League or a union for three years; also the employers paying less than union wages should be disqualified as candidates.TOUCHING THE POCKET.

STATE FURNITURE FACTORY FAVORED. Received 12, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, February 11. The Labor Conference negatived a motion that Labor members should contribute £lO annually to the funds of the Labor League in their electorate, and also V/. per cent, of moneys received as members' commissions. The Conference carried a motion that the Government establish a furniture factory for the manufacture of furniture required for Government offices, and also to supply wage-earners on the instalment plan; also a motion affirming the desirableness of abolishing capital punishment in favor of perpetual imprisonment, the mover contending that hanging was no deterrent to crime.
