Lead, £l3 2s Cd. Wheat.—Six thousand tons of South Australian sold at 355. Tallow. —At the sales 910 casks were offered and 575 sold. The prices were unchanged. The American visible supply of wheat is 74,323,000 bushels. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. jfoultry.—On Saturday last our pens were filled with poultry, including some very choice lines of pullets, The demand throughout was gtfod. The top price for the year was realised by a pen of six pure White Leghorn pullets. Prices were as follows:—Pullets (White Leghorns) 4s, Brown Leghorns, 3s fid, 3s 7d; Black Orpingtons, 3s 4d, 3s Cd; others, small, Is lid to 2s 7d; hens, good, is 8d to 2s Id; old, is 4d to la (id; cockerels, small, Is 2d to Is 7d; good, Is lOd to 2s lOd; chicks, 4 1 / 2 d to sd; ducklings, lid to Is Cd; ducks, good, to 2s 3d; Pekin drakes, 3s, 3s Id; old ducks, Is lOd to 2s; goslings, 2s !)d. A line of over-carried second grade wheat sold rtell.
Fruit. —Supplies during the week havo eased off somewhat, especially plums, the bulk of which are practically done. Tomatoes are in heavy supply from all parts. The Jirst shipment of Island oranges and the first shipment of Karatongan bananas this year are due at the end of the week. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. Poultry—On Saturday last we had a large entry, all pens being well filled. Prices were slightly easier. We quote: Hens, Is to Is lOd; cockerels, Is to Is 9d; pullets, small, Is 8d; roosters, Is to Is 7d; ducks and ducklings, Is 4d to Is Sd. In the mart a large quantity of furniture and vegetables sold well. Fruit. —The market shows an improvement on all lines, peaches and pears selling particularly well. The glut in plums is over, prices showing a considerable increase owing to short supply. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.
Wellington, February 7.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report having hold* tlieir fourth wool sale of the season in the Town Hall to-day, when they offered a catalogue of 4748 bales out of a total of 12,672. As is usually the case at this time of the year, there was a large number of very dingy, heavy and seedy parcels, only a small percentage of the offering being clean wool. There was a full attendance of buyers, and competition was keen throughout the sale, but we regret having to report a drop of quite y 4 d to %d below prices realised at our January sale. The following will give an indication of prices ruling as compared with last sale (the January prices being in parentheses):— Super merino, (10y 4 d to 10% d); merino, (o'/ 2 d to lOd), Qd to 9'/ 2 d; super halfbred to lly 2 d), 10'/ 4 d; medium halfbred (Oyjd to 10d), 9d to 9y 2 d; super crossbred (9%d to lid), lOd to lid; medium crossbred (8d to B%d), 7%d to B'/id; inferior and coarse crossbred (7d to 7%d), (SVid to 7d; Shropshire (!)d to il'/Ul); pieces (Od to 7Vid), 5d to 7d; bellies (5%d to ti'/ t d), 5%d to Cy 2 d; stained pieces and locks (3%d to 4d), 3Vad to 3%d; crutchings (4%d to s'/,d), 3%d to o'/jd; neck pieces (7y 2 d); first lambs, B'/ 2 d to second lambs, 7d to 8d; lambs, inferior, 4%d to C^d.
