AUSTRALASIAN ATHLETES
FOR THE FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE. WOODGER AND WILDING OUR REPRESENTATIVES. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright, Received 10, 12.35 a.m. Sydney, February 9. At a meeting of the combined Australasian Athletic Councils to arrange for sending a team to the Festival of Empire, it was stated that New Zealand was keen on being represented, and intended to ask for a Government subsidy. A letter from the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association stated that Woodger would probably go to England as the Association's accredited representative.
The meeting made the following pro visional appointments:
Sprints, Woodger, New Zealand. Half-mile and mile, Wheatley, Victoria, and Marden, New South Wales. Hurdles, F. Brown, Victoria, in the event of Davis, Victoria, not being available.
Swimming and boxing, Hardwick, New South Wales.
Tennis, Wilding, New Zealand.
