Morrison's Weary Bill, tied; hunters', Jas. Coombe's Marchioness won for tho second year in succession. A BULKY PACKAGE. Christ-church, Last Night. A large gas meter for the Christclmrch Gas Co., which was too large to convey by rail through the Lyttelton tunnel, and , was brought by traction engine over tho Port Hills, arrived safely on the flat today, and will be delivered at the company's works to-morrow.

HARBORING SEAMEN. Christehnreh, Last Xighl. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court to-day, C. \V. Dodd, licensee of the Empire Hotel, was found guilty of having harbored two seamen from the steamer Pakeha, and was fiued 20s on each information.

OYSTERS OUT OF SEASON. Auckland, Last Night. At the Police Court to-day four persons, John Jverson, (ieorge Brookes, •Archibald Robinson, and Mary Ratclirle, ' were convicted of picking oysters out « of season, tines raging from £1 to £2 being imposed with oo*ts.

THE DAXXKYTRKE SHOW. Dannevirke, Last Night. The second annual show under the auspices of the Dannevirke A. and P. As&o- • ciation was held to-day. There waa glorious weather, and the attendance was considerably over i>ooo. The Minuter of Agriculture and Mr. Dunlop, Scottish Commissioner, were present, as well as most of the representative sheep and cattle breeders from all parts of Hawke'g Bay. The entries showed a considerable increase on last year's, and competition was keen in all classes, especially in dairy breeds and grade dairy cattle. There was a good exhibition of fat sheep and lambs. The competitions were exceptionally well filled. The champion jump was won by McNiven's Pickpocket. Tho success of the show U tiuch that it is practically certain to bo a two-days' fixture next year.
