TWO CAKE RECIPES. An ejjglcss cake is made as follows: One cup of chopped nuts, one .cup of sour milk, one cup of sugar, one-half cup of butter, one teaspoonful each of cinnamon, cloves and soda, two cups of flour, pinch of mace; dissolve soda with milk; lake in n square cake tin. SURPRISE CAKE. Make a flour white cake of one cupful of sugar, one-half cupful of butter, two cupfuls of flour, into which has been s'fted two teaspoonfuls of baking powder, ami add at last the stiffly beaten yolks of two eggs, one-half teaspoonful of vanilla. Bake in flat pan. In each square press a chocolate cream before frosting with the whites of two eggs beaten and stiffened with powdered sugar, and flavored with vanilla. The : tea with such cakes is the favorite Crescent Blend tea at 1/10 per lb. The flavor of this tea leaves an agreeable impres-, sion on the palate, and most people like' it.
