.&*' TWO CAKE RECIPES. 1 An eggless cake is made as follows: One cup of chopped nuts, one cup of sour milk, one cup of sugar, one-half cup of butter, one teaspoonful each of cinnamon, cloves and soda, two cups of flour, pinch of mace; dissolve soda with milk; bake in a square cake tin. SURPRISE CAKE. Make a flour white cake of one cupful of sugar, one-half cupful of butter, two oupfuls of flour, into which ha 9 been sifted two tcaspoonfuls of baking powder, and add at last the stiffly beaten yolks of two eggs, one-half teaspoonful of vanilla. Bake in flat pan. In each square press a chocolate cream before frosting with the whites of two eges beaten and stiffened with powdered sugar, and flavored with vanilla.
