THE TRIPLE ENTENTE
FRENCH MINISTER'S VIEWS. NOTHING TO REGRET. By Gable—Press Association—Copyright. Paris, February 3. M. Pichon, Minister for Foreign Affairs, replying in the Senate to the criticism of the usefulness of the triple entente, deprecated the statement that the entente with England was unproductive, and that military matters had not been discussed during the past two or three years. In the course of his speech he exclaimed: "What do you know about it? Diplomacy is not carried on in public places." He affirmed in his own name and on the strength of the declaration made to hiin on behalf of Britain, tbat the entente had never been more complete or more intimate than to-day. He spoke, similarly of the alliance with Russia, who, he said, had kept France fully informed prior to and during the Potsdam conference, and whatever the outcome of the pourparlers might be, there would be nothing to regret from the standpoint of the interests of France and peace.
