AN OLD WOMAN'S PLIGHT
Melbourne, .Tannary 'JO. Having received information hv an anonymous letter, the police, yesterdav discovered Klleu Tracer, an old bed-rid-den woman, in a. wash-house in St. Kilda. She is 7.'! years of age, and has been paralysed down one side for •>•> years. When found she was utterly helpless, and her bed consisted of three pieces of hard Imard and some filthy bits of elotiumr. Her hands were tightly clenched, and her feet were twisted like'claws. When placed on a bed in an ambulance van she exclaimed. '■This is beautiful. Tt's heavenly." Mrs. Tracy, who did not complain of ill-treatment, said she had received an old-s»c pension, which had been drawn for her for years by another woman, who, she stated, had been kind to her. For four months she had lived in the washhouse, which at time was very cold cold, and the mattress she had was "taken from her three weeks ago.
