THOUSANDS DYING DAILY. A HORRIBLE STATE OF AFFAIRS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Pekin, February 1. Thousands are dying from plague daily in Manchuria. In the town of Fichiatien there have been 4000 victims. Entire streets have been burned in the effort to stop the epidemic.
The bodies of the dead are thrown into the streets to dogs and birds of prey.
Doctors and others assisting in medical work are protected by gauze masks saturated with iodoform.
An English doctor succumbed within thirty-six hours of infection.
