THE COOGEE HEROES. By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright. Received 2, 9.15 p.m. Sydney, February 2. There is tremendous interest in the "Coogee Hero Fund," and nearly £2OO has been collected. The Governor-Gen-eral, Premier, and Lord Mayor are extending their patronage to to-morrow's Stadium function. AN OVERTURNED YACHT. Received 2, 9.15 p.m. Sydney, February 2. An overturned yacht has been discovered at Corio Bay, but there are no signs of the crew. The Geelong regatta was held on Saturday, and several yachts left during the night, but no intimation has been received that any one is missing. ROUNDING UP THE CADETS. Received 3, 12.40 a.m. Sydney, February 2. An area officer in the metropolitan district declares that the registration of youths under the Defence Act has not reached 50 per cent, of those liable for military service. Officers arc already making a house-to-house investigation, and prosecutions will take place immediately. SHORTENING THE WEEK. Received 3, 12.40 a.m. Melbourne, February 2. The Geelong Harbor Trust has adopted a 44 hours' week for all labor. It is claimed that this is the first public body to reduce the hours to 44.
