An area officer in the metropolitan district declares that the registration of youths under the Defence Act has not reached 50 per cent, of those liable for military service. Officers arc already making a house-to-house investigation, and prosecutions will take place immediately. SHORTENING THE WEEK. Received 3, 12.40 a.m. Melbourne, February 2. The Geelong Harbor Trust has adopted a 44 hours' week for all labor. It is claimed that this is the first public body to reduce the hours to 44.
