GAS-WORKERS' MISTAKE
THEIR STRIKE ILL-ADVISED. By Cable.—Pre<w Associa tion.—CopyrigM. Received 31, 8.55 p.m. Sydney, January 31. Mr. Watson's decision in the gas strike enquiry is that he found the charge of drunkenness against Kerr proved, and he considered the strike very ill-advised.
The gas-worker.s struck on account of the suspension or dismissal of an employee, who was also the union secretary, on a charge of drunkenness and incompetency. After the city of Sydney had been plunged in darkness and greatly inconvenienced by the absence of gas, it was decided that Mr. Watson's decision in the matter should be accepted by both parties, and the men resumed worlc.
