OFFICERS GOING TO ENGLAND
FOR MILITARY TRAINING. Wellington, Yesterday. '' In addition to the selection of Captain R. J. Seddon, Stall' Officer to the Adjutant and Quartermaster-General of the. Forces, for a course of training in England, it is understood that LieutenantColonel iF. W. Abbott, D.5.0., at present on the active unattached list (Auckland district), Captain M. M. Gardner, com- •* manding the Dunodin Detachment of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, and Captain R. 0. Chesnoy. at present on thft Instructional Staff at Tauherinikau camp, have also been selected for a course in England. Three of these officers — Captains Seddon, Gardner and Chesney—are members of the Permanent Staff, while Lieutenant-Colonel Abbott is a , Territorial officer, with a distinguished record of service in >South Africa, where he commanded the Ninth New Zealand A . Regiment. He was mentioned in dispatches, and awarded a D.S.O.
