THE SYDNEY GASWORKS

HALF-YEARLY PROFITS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 31, 1.9 a.m. Sydney, January 30. At the half-yearly meeting of the Gas Company the profit was shown at £09,366. A dividend of 9s per share was declared. The chairman said he was at a loss to understand the recent attacks on the company. It was absurd to say that they could supply gas here as cheaply as in England. Labor and machinery were so much dearer. When the extensions at the works were in working order the price would again come under consideration.
