Beef.—The market is firm, and stocks of New Zealand on halid light. New Zealand hinds 3%d, fores 3y B d. Butter.—The market is very unsteady, and buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower. There ii a large supply on hand. Choicest New Zealand 105s, Australian 101s, Danish 115s, Siberian 100s. Cheese. —The market is firm with good demand. Colored 60s, white 58s.

Hemp.—The market is flat, with scarcely any demand, and prospects are unfavorable. New Zealand good fair on spot £l9 10s, fair grade £1!), fair current Manila £lB 10s. Forward shipments New Zealand good fair £1!) 10s, fair grade £l9 ss, fair current Manila £l9. The output for the week from Manlia was 23,000 bales.

Cocksfoot Seed.—The market is quiet, and buyers not keen to do business. The average price of bright clean New Zenland weighing 171b per bushel on spot is 735.

NEW PLYMOUTH WOOL. SHEEPSKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALE. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 17th inst., we held our four-weekly sale of above produce. Hides were more keenly competed for than was the case last month. An advance showed particularly in heavies, while mediums, both ox and cow, held at about last month's rates. We had very few damaged and inferior hides on catalogue, and these realised about last month's rates. Wool anil skins, in sympathy with other markets, showed a sharp decline. The former showed a drop of fully Id per lb, while skins, pelts and dried lambs, particularly, declined about 3d to 6d per piece and salted Id to 2d. Tallow declined l"w to '2ss, in sympathy with London markets. Sundries sold at market prices. We quote: Hides—Butchers', ox, stout, none offered; good heavy 7%d to 7%d, medium ()%d to 7Vid, light (iy 3 d to 7d, cut 6%d to G%d; cow, medium stout 7y 4 d, heavy ordinary (i'/ 4 d to 6%i1, medium 6y 4 d to (P/ 2 d, light U'/ 4 d to «'/ 2 d, cut 5%d to fid, settlers' cow 4'/ 4 d to 5%d, cut 4'/.d, cut and slippy Id, slippy 3'/ 8 d; bull, slippy l%d; dogskin, (id; horse, sound 7s, cut (is; calfskins, heavy Sd. light Gy.d to 7%d (accordiug to condition and weight), cut 4-y.d, slippy 4 ! /.d, yearling <i%d to Bd. Wool—We have not many sales to report, vendors not feeling disposed to accept lower prices offered, there being in most places a difference of Id per lb between vendor and purchaser.
