punhio. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Puinlio School Committee weru fortunate in the day chosen for the annual school picnic,' which was held in the grounds of Mr. W, ireenway on Thursday. A nicer spot for a school picnic could not have been found in the district, and Mr. (ireenway had taken much trouble to see to the comfort and convenience of his visitors by the erection of both seats and tables" beneath the sheltering branches of a beautiful clump of native bush,'where tne refreshment* of the day were served up in commendable style. Mr. Thomas was well .supported in his energetic efforts to prevent ilagging in the varied amusements and sports toy his faithful committee, and other lady and gentlemen friends, both pakehas and Maoris, among whom may be mentioned Mesdames (ireenway. Joinder, Wills, Thomas, Hill, Stephenson, Misses 1). and K. Hill and Knight, Messrs ('. Wells (chairman "of the committee), Hill, lireenway, Lander, Sullivan, fangiboe and Stephenson. The children hail a lively time and nmongst them had about £4 distributed in 'prizes won in the several games got up for the occasion. The proceedings we're concluded by (he passing of hearty votes of thanks to .Mr. <lreenway for the use of his grounds, Mr. Wills, the chairman of the committee, and to the ladies, the latter calling forth three vociferous cheers..
