AMUSEMENTS
BIOGRAPH PICTURES. To-night, at the Theatre Royal, there will be presented one of the most instructive and entertaining sets of lilms yet screened. The management have been fortunate in securing a splendidly varied programme. All the pictures are "stars," but one or two call for special mention. A strikingly well-enacted romance, ".Mazcppa," relates the thrilling experience of a young Tartar chief, who, captured by the Poles, becomes enamoured of Olinska, a beautiful Polish maid. He joins the ranks of the Poles, but is discovered fighting a duel with the maid's unwelcome suitor. He is sentenced to be tied to the back of a wild horse. The horse, a magnificent white charger, is thrown by ropes, and "Mazeppa" tied on to his'back. The animal is released, and is shown wildly galloping up hill and down dale carrying ''Ma zeppa" to almost certain death, but the horse is caught by "Mazeppa's" own tribesmen, and lie is saved. Revenge is speedily sought, and the tables completely turned. The programme contains plenty of scenic, educational, and humorous films. Patrons shoald not miss to-night's exhibition.
