IMPORTING FARM LABORERS
THE FARMERS' UNION SCHEME. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The provincial secretary of- the Auckland executive of the Farmers' Union. Mr. Schmidt, indicated to-day what it is proposed to do in the direction of introducing British farm laborers into the Auckland province. In April next Mr. Flanagan, of Drury, the vice-president of the provincial executive, leaves for England. While in the Old Country, he will make a personal examination of suitable farm hands, and select as many as are required by the farmers of the province. "We have no intention of running against the Government," said Mr. Schmidt, "and hope to work in conjunction with the Labor Department, if possible. The demand for suitable farm labor is very great indeed, and we expect that the first batch of arrivals will number at least a hundred."
