SAt Stratford # on Wednesday, Mr. Alf. Coleman, son o'f Major Coleman, of New Plymouth, was married to Miss Georgina Kirkwood, youngest daughter of Mrs. A. Kirkwood, of Strattord. The honeymoon is being spent at Rotorua. Sir Joseph Ward telegraphed yesterday to Mr. C. Carter, chairman of theTaranaki Petroleum Co., that he will arrive in New Plymouth this afternoon, by motor-car at half-past three o'clock, . and will visit the bores at Moturoa im- ' mediately afterwards.

Mr. H. C. Day, of Wellington, a? rived last evening to assume the management of Messrs, L. D. Nathan and Co.'s local branch, relieving Mr. T, 0 Schnackcnberg, who has been in cbargf during the last five years, and who h«l been transferred to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs; Schnaekenbcrg leave shortly for a holiday trip to Rotorua before resuming in Auckland. Mr. Schnackenberg b* made himself very useful' in sever* capacities during his residence here. ,H was an active member of the Ghambe of Commerce, and filled the chair for twelve months.
