FIRES.
RACEHORSES IX DANGER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Stables attached to the Provincial Hotel at Upper Hutt were destroyed by fire during Saturday night. Amongst the inmates was Lcaland. who had won the Ruapehu Handicap at Trenthaiu during the afternoon, hut Ruick's gelding was got out uninjured. A hack racer belonging to Mr. Vavasour, of Rlenheim. was suffocated. OUTBREAK AT FIXXERTY ROAD. Shortly after 4.30 o'clock yesterday morning the residence of Mr.'\V. Robertson, Finnerty road, near the Lowgarth Dairy Factory, was totally destroyed by' fire. Efforts to save the building or its contents proved futile, and the whole was destroyed, iuHuding a piano.
